French roadtrip | Part 3

Some time ago my boyfriend and I went on a road trip to France. We had an amazing time camping, driving and exploring. And I'd love to share our experiences with you.

Read part 1 and part 2 first!

The next day we were driving to Paris. From Beauvoir you can take the highway, but you can also take the National roads. Which is a lot more fun and it takes about the same amount of time.
We slept at the campsite: Paris-Est in, well, Paris. Which is a huge campsite in East-Paris. The bus stop was at the reception and took you to a RER station, where you could hop on a train that would take you to the centre of Paris. The campsite was okay and the facilities fine, but it wasn’t a campsite meant for tents. There was no grass and it was muddy everywhere. But we were very close to Paris, so we didn’t care.

The first day in Paris was a long, exhausting and amazing day. We drove and parked the car in a side street of the Champs-Élysées in one of the many parking garages. A bit expensive, but we’re not in Paris every day. First we visited the Arc de Triomphe and from there we decided to walk to the
Sacré-C
œur. Not a very bright idea. It was, amazingly, very warm and a longer walk than we thought. But it was nice to see Paris that way.

The Sacré-Cœur is a Basilica in Paris. It’s located on the hill Montmartre and is dedicated to the Sacred Heart worship.  The church is especially notable for its prominent location on the hill and its bright white appearance.

After our long walk up hill we took the metro to the Eiffel tower. We took some pictures and walked around in the park before we went looking for a place to eat. We ate some amazing pizza while we watched the tourists and the Parisians in their natural habitat.

When the sun started to set we bought tickets and took the elevator to the top of the Eiffel tower. It was the most amazing thing. It was dark and we could see lights far beyond Paris. We could see the beautiful well-lit monuments, carousels, small cafés, a Ferris wheel and the lights in the living rooms of the Parisians. It was beautiful.

The next day we were a bit tired and decided it was a good day to spent in the Musée duLouvre. That day we arrived in Paris by public transportation. It was very easy to get there from the campsite.

The Louvre is one of the greatest museums in the world. Just one day isn’t enough to see everything. The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci is probably the most famous piece in the collection of the Louvre. But it’s also full with other famous pieces. For years it has been the most visited museum in the world. We had a good and educational day. Around 4 we were so tired we went back to the campsite for a quick nap. But when we woke up the weather was so beautiful, we wanted to see Paris for one last time, this holiday. So we got in the little red car and headed to the Champs-Élysées and la tour Eiffel.

We had a great holiday and I hope you enjoyed reading about it.
